Business Rates Changes

The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) is updating the rateable value of all business properties.

This is known as revaluation and will come into effect from 1 April 2017.

The VOA generally reassesses all rateable values in England and Wales every five years based on a property’s open market rental value on a fixed date, although the last revaluation was in 2010. The next revaluation will be based on rental values on 1 April 2015.

You are able to check the draft rateable value of your property from October by visiting a specially created view my valuation section on the Valuation Office Agency website at:

Choose the High Street – Christmas

CTHS Christmas Voucher Cover 2016
We would like to say a big thank you to all of the retailers who took part in the Choose the High Street Christmas Voucher Booklet.

This year, we have received 112 offers.

The vouchers will be valid from 14th November to 31st December across the five managed towns of Bargoed, Blackwood, Caerphilly, Risca and Ystrad Mynach; there are also some offers from businesses outside the town centres too.

In Ystrad Mynach, people can collect their voucher booklets from the Library on High Street & Tesco. Voucher booklets will also be given away at all of the Council’s Christmas events and via local schools.

For the first time this year, we are using bus adverts to promote our local town centres as shopping destinations this Christmas. Information on the scheme will also be available on the Council’s website and social media.
