Join Caerphilly Business Forum at The Celt Experience for a brewery tour and sampling session.
“With a home-brewing background from an age that was a bit naughty, beer sommelier Tom Newman, born of Welsh blood, gave up his day job in 2003 to take brewing seriously… well, as seriously as Tom can get anyway.
Tom worked as a trainee at Butcome brewery as a 17 year old in 1992, but began his commercial exploration from his dad’s garage in 2003. Tom learnt quickly by trial and error but was blessed with some good fortune along the way, like being able to buy up the majority of the sadly defunct Smile’s kit in Bristol.
Soon after creating Newman’s, Tom decided to let it go quietly into the night and returned to his ancestral roots by launching the Celt brand, which consisted of Celt Golden, Bronze and Bleddyn.
Originally, all organically brewed, Tom found himself hampered by organic ingredients in an ever expanding craft beer landscape and decided to start experimenting with all kinds of malts and hops and in 2011, he dropped the organic mantra and the brewery has gone from strength to strength and has welcomed the addition of the on-going Shapeshifter series of collaboration brews, as well as the high ABV Ogham series to the roster.
In 2013 Cell Rebirth was launched by the team at Celt to explore the use of indigenous yeast and bacteria to develop Welsh farmhouse beers using local produce.
Celt continue to search for ways to innovate new beers and give beer lovers an alternative experience.”
