The third Caerphilly Food Festival is pulling out all the stops to make it an event to remember, and one that will draw visitors from near and far! This year’s event will descend on the town centre on Saturday 10th May. The high street will be adorned with stalls offering a food market through the town and hosting a feast of entertainment for all ages. A variety of food stalls will line the street filling he town with delicious smells and sizzling sounds of a bustling food fayre! Foodies will be in their element as cookery demonstration programmes accompany the festival, offering inside information on how produce is made and how to improve your own culinary skills. There will be an abundance of attractions for visitors of all ages to see with fun activities and entertainment  enhancing the street festival, bringing fantastic colour and excitement to Caerphilly.

The Fibre for Breakfast events are an opportunity for businesses to realise the benefits of super fast broadband and have any questions they have about the new technology answered by BT. Offering much faster download speeds and a more reliable service, fibre broadband brings multiple benefits to businesses and individuals. BT Programme Director Ed Hunt says “Superfast Cymru is a hugely ambitious programme that will place Wales at the forefront of broadband technology. Following the Caerphilly 10k’s hugely successful introduction in 2013, Caerphilly County Borough Council with support from Welsh Athletics and Run Wales will be running the Caerphilly 10k along with a new Junior 2k on Sunday 22nd June 2014. To sign up for the event visit http://your.caerphilly.gov.uk/10k Registration costs are as follows: Unaffiliated Entrants: £14.00 per person Affiliated Club/Welsh Athletics Entrants: £12.00 per person Concessions – Over 60’s & Wheelchair users £12.00 per person Early Bird discount of £2 will be applied to the above entry categories until Tuesday 22nd April  Participants have the opportunity to enter as part of a corporate/community team, where teams consisting of 4-6 members will compete to win the coveted ‘Caerphilly 10k Team Challenge Trophy’. Registration costs £25.00 per person with members receiving additional entry benefits including a training t-shirt and sequential run numbers. Continuing on from the positive messages conveyed at Digital 2013, the event will again take place at the Celtic Manor Resort, Newport, on the 9th and 10th June 2014. The event will provide a global platform for the ICT sector in Wales to progress, highlighting global trends, related skills gaps and areas for future investment. Digital 2014 will be focused around main plenary sessions including a programme of key note speakers and break-out sessions, sector workshops and an exhibition / brokerage area. The event will also focus on young peoples perceptions of the ICT sector, their thoughts on future sector developments and their involvement in addressing the identified skills gaps. The session will be hosted by Maggie Philbin, Founder and CEO TeenTech CIC. Speakers lined up to participate at the event will be globally recognised within the ICT Sector from world renowned organisations including Microsoft, IBM, HP and BT. St David’s Day Celebrations

There will be a number of St David’s Day celebrations going on around the Caerphilly County Borough on Saturday 1st March at the following locations: Bargoed – Hanbury Square Blackwood – The Dragon Circle (next to Asda) Caerphilly – The Twyn Community Centre Risca – Tredegar Park Bargoed, Blackwood, Caerphilly and Risca will all be host to a wonderfully welsh celebration of our heritage as we are joined by a fantastic selection of local choirs and brass bands and treated to delightful performances from local dance and music groups. There will also be stilt walkers and face painting thrown into the mix at each town centre, creating some great free family fun for both residents and visitors alike to enjoy. The celebrations in Risca will also coincide with a medal presentation awards ceremony and parade for the 203 (Welsh) Field Hospital who will be returning from a tour of duty in Afghanistan as part of Operation HERRICK. Each concert will come to a finale with a sing-along to the Welsh National Anthem, so why not put on your favourite welsh shirt or dress as a traditional welsh lady and join us for the celebrations.
