Farmer For A Day (ages 14 & 15) @ Lylac Ridge
At Lylac Ridge our 3 and 6 hour sessions give children aged 12-18 the opportunity to work alongside the team on a working farm. Participants will get to learn about our animals, understand and identify their needs, and pitch in with the mucky work too! Activities vary depending on the weather, but may include grooming our larger animals, spending time with the smaller ones, cleaning stables and shelters and maintaining clear pathways. Participants will also receive an in-house certificate and a digital photograph with an animal of their choice. We aim to group participants with others of similar age. Our 3-hour sessions are great for 12-15 year olds, whereas those between 16-18 years old will love our 6-hour session. 30th May – 09.30-12.30 – 12 & 13 – £13 30th May – 13.00-16.00 – 14 & 15 – £13 31st May – 10.00-16.00 – 16, 17 & 18 – £25 Additional sessions may be arranged subject to demand. Having joined the military in 1984, she spent the first ten years working in and around RAF airfields as an Air Traffic Controller before retiring as Group Captain and Air Traffic Management Force Commander, responsible for all RAF air traffic units in the UK and around the world after 28 years’ service. She held the position of interim Managing Director from September 2014 – December 2015, during which time the Airport saw a significant growth in passenger numbers, a new airline base, new services and successful delivery of major events plus further improvements to the terminal and airfield operations. The Working Women Forum are delighted to announce their first speaker of the 2017 series Michelle from Rose Innes Design on January 11 in the Tourist Information Centre Caerphilly. Michelle Rose-Innes worked in many different design roles around the world before setting up her own branding agency back home in Cardiff, Wales. She launched Rose-Innes Designs 10 years ago with a packaging design project for Sainsbury’s. Within a year she was designing for all top 5 of the supermarkets and needed to grow a team to manage the demand for new projects. The business now attracts successful brand, website and graphic design projects from a wide client base across the private, public and third sectors. Uncover Your Brand In this workshop we WILL look at: Why brand is more than the logo Your brand values, mission, vision and purpose Customer segments and the value you create for them Best channels to communicate your brand value Your competitors and how you can be different with your brand You will come away with your own workshop sheet with ideas and direction for developing your brand. Brand expert Michelle Rose-Innes has over 20 years of experience, advising and delivering brands for all types of business and services worldwide. From NatWest to supermarket and cyber security brands her approach is always grounded in research, supported with methodology and inspired by creative thinking. Michelle’s party story is that she designed the restaurant chain ‘Frankie and Benny’s’ brand back in 1997 (Yes, that is her handwriting!) We can’t promise you a Frankie & Benny’s but…

Welsh Language Carol Service 2016 Gwasanaeth Carolau @ St Gwladys’ Church Hall
This year, Bargoed will host a fully Welsh language Christmas celebration as St Gwladys’ partner with Menter Caerffili to host their Gwasanaeth Carolau. Part of St Gwladys’ Christmas programme, the service on Monday 19th December at 7pm will be followed by a chance to socialise over festive treats including mince pies and mulled wine. Bethan Jones, Menter Caerffili, commented: “Mae noson carolau Menter Caerffili yn gyfle i gymuned Sir Caerffili ddod at ei gilydd i ddathlu’r Nadolig drwy’r iaith Gymraeg. Mae’n wasanaeth i’r gymuned gan aelodau o’r gymuned Cymraeg yn y Sir, fe fydd darlleniadau a pherfformiadau gan unigolion a bydd carolau i’r gynulleidfa ymuno. Mae’r noson hefyd yn gyfle gwych i ddysgwyr dod at ei gilydd gyda siaradwyr rhugl i ddathlu. Wedi’r gwasanaeth bydd diod a mins pei ar gael. Mae’r gwasanaeth yn agored i bawb ymuno.” The Menter Caerffili carol service is an opportunity for the Caerphilly county community to join together to celebrate Christmas through the Welsh language. It is a service for the community led by the Welsh speaking community and there will be readings and performances by individuals and carols for the everyone to join in. The evening is a fantastic opportunity for Welsh speaking learners to join with fluent speakers to celebrate. Afterwards there will be a drink and mince pies. The service is open for anybody to come along.

Bargoed’s FREE Firework Display @ Hanbury Road Car Park, Bargoed
Bargoed Town Council presents a FREE fireworks display on Friday 4th November. The show commences at 6.15pm (fireworks start at 6.45pm) in Hanbury Road car park Bargoed. There will be a catering unit on site and once again free children’s rides are being provided. Visitors are encouraged to use the town’s public car parks. Please note – No alcohol or sparklers will be allowed on site.
