60’s, 70’s, 80’s Charity Night
Charity Night to suppoert 3 local charities. POPSY – Parents of Partially Sighted Youngsters, Disability Sports and Friends of Trinity Fields School. Charity walk and funday with Ruth Jones, star of “Stella” and Gavin and Stacey’s “Nessa”
Welsh TV star Ruth Jones who is most recently known for her the main character in hit comedy Stella and previously as Nessa in Gavin and Stacey is set to lead the charity one mile walk in in of the “Lullaby Trust” to raise awareness and funds for Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID). The charity walk is set to start off 11am on Saturday 11th May from the Fly in Bedwas with Ruth being on hand to sign autographs and have pictures taken from 10am. The charity walk will then be followed by live entertainment including games, toy stalls, a barbecue and performances from the young street dance world champions from Ebbw Vale, Kemistry, Louise Hall, one of Wales’ top female vocalists, and contributions from many other professional artists. The charity was set up by Allison Hall in memory of her son that she lost suddenly 24 years ago. Tickets for the event will cost £4 with proceeds going to the Lullaby Trust and it is hoped that this years event will smash last year’s £6,000 raised for the charity with £1,200 being raised already in last weeks charity bike ride.

Caerphilly Food Festival
The second Caerphilly Food Festival is pulling out all the stops to make it an event to remember, and one that will draw visitors from near and far! This year, when the festival comes to town on Saturday 4 May, to ensure that the event reaches its full potential, following a high footfall in 2012, which was aided by the Olympic Torch Relay, celebrity chef Jean Christophe Novelli will be onsite for the duration of the event to add some European culinary skills into the mix. The well known chef, who has a 5 out of 5 AA Rosette and Michelin star to his name, will be on hand at the Caerphilly Food Festival to carry out cookery demonstrations throughout the day and will also give visitors an opportunity for autograph and book signings. Dubbed “the nations favourite French chef”, Caerphilly cannot wait to welcome Jean Christophe Novelli into town! As well as the cookery demonstration programme, the event will include over 60 stalls, farmers market, animal displays, children’s activities and lots more. Cllr Ken James, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Planning and Sustainable Development said, “This excellent event promises to offer a vast array of culinary delights and fun for all the family. Set in the heart of Caerphilly town centre, I would encourage as many people to come along and enjoy this event as possible”. Easter Eggstravaganza
Children can make a range of Easter Crafts including crackers filled with goodies, Easter Bonnets and Rabbit Food. At 1.30pm each day there will be an Easter Bonnet Parade for children to display their beautiful creations. The manor house gardens will be full of the joys of spring with a gaggle of baby farm animals for visitors to meet.
