Parkour / Acrobatics Workshop – NoFit State – BLOCK @ Lansbury Park, Caerphilly – July 20th
Come and learn skills from the the show right on your doorstep – from parkour to acrobatics. NoFit State will also be hosting weekly circus and parkour workshops in these areas over the summer holidays and anyone who takes part in the workshops has the chance perform for their community as part of the BLOCK performances in August. As part of the national tour of their new outdoor show, BLOCK, NoFit State will bring the production to the centre of the communities of Bryn Aber, Lansbury Park, Aberbargoed and Tredegar where United Welsh homes are located. Working Women Network Event – Prepare to paint like Piccasso @ Tourist Information Centre in Caerphilly
Caerphilly’s Working Women Network returns with acclaimed local artist Gigi Jones. Gigi Jones, a local artist and designer, will lead a painting masterclass in the shadow of the 2nd largest castles in Europe. Book onto this exciting event which is happening during the annual Cwm a Mynydd’s Arts Week and learn the skill of the old masters! The event will be held on 13th of July 2016 in the Tourist Information Centre in Caerphilly. The group meets every six to eight weeks and is open to women in business across the region. Denise Lovering, Director at Glenside Commercial and Chair of the Caerphilly Business Forum, said: We received a number of requests from our female members for some informal events alongside the usual business based ones. The Working Women Networking Group is able to provide local businesswomen with a regular platform where they can meet, share best practice and ideas and add value to their businesses in an informal, yet structured way. She added: We welcome both members and non-members to attend our events, meet with other like-minded women located within the region and enjoy time away from their business environment. Blackwood Beach Party returns @ Blackwood town centre – Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July
Summer has arrived in Caerphilly county borough and what better way to enjoy it than with a beach party! Blackwood town centre will once again be turned into the county borough’s very own urban beach on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July and there will be plenty on offer to entertain the whole family. Visitors can enjoy the range of traditional seaside activities taking place across the whole weekend, including a children’s funfair, donkey rides and hilarious Punch and Judy shows. A host of entertainers will be getting everyone involved in the party, including a promenade style photo booth. There will even be a chance for children to meet some of their favourite costumed characters! On Saturday 2nd July there will be live music organised by local young musicians (RecRock) and new for this year, on Sunday 3rd July, Blackwood Carnival will be parading through the High Street to the Market Place where there will be live music and entertainment. There will also be exotic animals to admire and a variety of food, craft and gift stalls lining the streets on both days for visitors to peruse. Blackwood Beach Party is a free event and will open between 9am and 5pm on the Saturday and 10am to 4pm on the Sunday. The Great Cheese Race 2016 @ Caerphilly Castle
The Big Cheese®, an extravaganza of street entertainers, living history encampments, music, dance, traditional funfair, folk dancing, falconry, fire eating, minstrels, troubadours and much more. 6.30pm start at The Big Cheese Prizes for race winners and best dressed teams. Teams of 4 are required. Adult team members must be aged 16 or over, junior entrants must be aged between 8 and 15. All entrants must be fit enough to enter the race. The Funfair opens at 3pm and Fireworks display starts at 10pm on Friday 29th July 2016. The music entertainment and funfair are open on Friday afternoon, however all other entertainment and trade stalls are open on Saturday and Sunday only.
