Get Caerphilly online has now helped 2,500 people
Get Caerphilly Online is a partnership between existing initiatives supported by the Welsh Government Communities 2.0 programme, Caerphilly Borough Council and Get IT Together. The project aims to pull down barriers of digital exclusion to make sure that people from all walks of life and ages can benefit from the internet. Whether its sending a first email, signing up to the latest social media platforms such as Facebook to talk to a long lost aunty in Australia, setting up online banking or making the first online purchase. More and more services are now being pushed online instead of receiving paper statements and the government is also pushing it’s services such as benefits and job matching so it is important that people feel confident using a computer and the internet so the Get Caerphilly online helps complete novices and also refresher courses for intermediate users with drop in sessions at local libraries. The campaign has recently benefited from the support of volunteers and is keen to recruit more to develop more opportunities across the borough and to become a digital champion for the area.
