Good health and safety management doesn’t just mean that employees can be prevented from being killed, injured or made ill at work. It also means that businesses can save a lot of money, improve productivity, prevent costly insurance claims and potential reputation damaging enforcement action.

In 2012/13 there were 175,000 absences of over seven days due to injuries suffered at work, and almost 27 million working days are lost every year across the UK due to illness and injuries suffered at work. The average length of an absence is 17 days, which can have a significant impact on any business due to lost productivity, lower efficiency, increased costs and higher pressure for the remaining workforce.

Business Wales and Public Health Wales are running this workshop which will cover:

Policy: what should be covered in a Health and Safety policy

Risk Assessment: identifying hazards and developing risk assessments

Management: organisational and personal responsibilities

Health and Safety Culture: how to implement an accident investigation

Main reasons for absence: how to manage them including musculoskeletal disorders and stress

The workshop will take place at the Business Development Centre, Main Avenue, Treforest Industrial Estate, Treforest, CF37 5UR on Tuesday 16th September between 10:00am – 1:00pm
