FSW LTD Makes a Smart Move The new Smart Zone in Caerphilly has welcomed its first tenant FSW Ltd. Founded in Ireland over 50 years ago Fridge Spare Wholesale, (FSW) has grown over the last 5 decades to become one of the largest family owned independent wholesalers in the UK refrigeration and air conditioning industry. FSW have 24 Trade Counters in the UK and 3 in Ireland, offering a collection and delivery service anywhere in the UK. Including FSW there are 4 other businesses that form the FSW UK Group of companies, Beacon Design & Engineering Limited manufacture bespoke refrigeration and our conditioning equipment, ESP who supply spare parts for commercial refrigeration equipment, and then 2 other specialist divisions that support the supermarket refrigeration sector called NRWfm and Just one call. FSW has seen a massive growth over the last 20 years particularly in the Air Conditioning Sector, we are main agents for Mitsubishi Electric and Fujutsu Air Conditioning. New Year – why not take on the Caerphilly 10k challenge? Residents looking for a New Year challenge should look no further than the Caerphilly 10k – with over 200 people already having signed up to take on the ever popular annual event. The Caerphilly 10k returns on Sunday 19th June – and entry prices are frozen until 31st January! The event, which is the third most popular 10k event in Wales, just behind Cardiff and Swansea, attracted close to 2,000 participants last year, and leads participants in and around Caerphilly town centre – passing local landmarks including the Tommy Cooper statue along the way and offering great views of the wonderful castle. Also returning is the Caerphilly 2k run, offering younger runners a chance to get involved in this timed event. Participants must be at least 8 on the day of the event in order to participate. Entry fees are £16.50 for unaffiliated entrants, £14.50 for affiliated/Welsh Athletics entrants, £14.50 for concessions (over 60’s and wheelchair users) and £6.50 for 2k runners. All fees include booking fee and transaction charges. Cllr Nigel George said, “The Caerphilly 10k continues to be one of our most popular events, and has grown substantially in popularity since the inaugural event in 2013. It is an event which attracts people from right across the country to participate and really helps to showcase all that Caerphilly has to offer to people from far and wide. It was wonderful to see so many people taking on the challenge last year, and whether participants have the aim of putting in a good time, raising money for good causes…

New business for Blackwood Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Business Support Team offered a Caerphilly Business Start-up Grant to a local business owner to set up the Market Place Caffi in Blackwood. Owner Nicholas Davies, a qualified chef, has been working in the catering industry for more than 15 years and thanks to assistance from Caerphilly Council has realised his dream of owning his own business.   The Cafe is located in the heart of the town centre within the market place shopping centre and promises to provide a warm and friendly environment for shoppers offering a wide and varied menu. Nick Davies, said, I am thrilled to be opening my very first business in Blackwood and I hope that my vast experience in the catering industry will stand me in good stead to serve local people great food. Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Planning and Sustainable Development Cllr. Ken James, said, I am pleased that Nick was able to work with the Business Support Team to assist him with setting up shop in Blackwood. We wish him all the very best for future trading. The Business Support Team work with businesses across the county to deliver a flexible grant scheme through a partnership with UK Steel Enterprise. It is designed to help residents of the borough set up a full-time start up business, who are unable to access any other source of funding. The Caerphilly Business Start-Up Grant provides financial support to help eligible new businesses develop and grow.
