schedule Past event
The Caerphilly 10k returns on Sunday 19th June – and entry prices are frozen until 31st January!   The start and finish line are located off Crescent Road, behind Caerphilly Castle, marked by a gantry.   The event, which is the third most popular 10k event in Wales, just behind Cardiff and Swansea, attracted close to 2,000 participants last year, and leads participants in and around Caerphilly town centre – passing local landmarks including the Tommy Cooper statue along the way and offering great views of the wonderful castle. Also returning is the Caerphilly 2k run, offering younger runners a chance to get involved in this timed event. Participants must be at least 8 on the day of the event in order to participate. Entry fees are £16.50 for unaffiliated entrants, £14.50 for affiliated/Welsh Athletics entrants, £14.50 for concessions (over 60’s and wheelchair users) and £6.50 for 2k runners. All fees include booking fee and transaction charges. Cllr Nigel George said: “The Caerphilly 10k continues to be one of our most popular events, and has grown substantially in popularity since the inaugural event in 2013. It is an event which attracts people from right across the country to participate and really helps to showcase all that Caerphilly has to offer to people from far and wide. It was wonderful to see so many people taking on the challenge last year, and whether participants have the aim of putting in a good time, raising money for good causes or simply as a personal challenge to themselves, I am sure more people…

Health & safety for your business
Tagged
schedule Past event
Good health and safety management doesn’t just mean that employees can be prevented from being killed, injured or made ill at work. It also means that businesses can save a lot of money, improve productivity, prevent costly insurance claims and potential reputation damaging enforcement action. In 2012/13 there were 175,000 absences of over seven days due to injuries suffered at work, and almost 27 million working days are lost every year across the UK due to illness and injuries suffered at work. The average length of an absence is 17 days, which can have a significant impact on any business due to lost productivity, lower efficiency, increased costs and higher pressure for the remaining workforce. Business Wales and Public Health Wales are running this workshop which will cover: Policy: what should be covered in a Health and Safety policy Risk Assessment: identifying hazards and developing risk assessments Management: organisational and personal responsibilities Health and Safety Culture: how to implement an accident investigation Main reasons for absence: how to manage them including musculoskeletal disorders and stress The workshop will take place at the Business Development Centre, Main Avenue, Treforest Industrial Estate, Treforest, CF37 5UR on Tuesday 16th September between 10:00am – 1:00pm To book a place, please use the following link: Event Link or call 03000 6 03000
