New businesses in Caerphilly are getting support from Tata subsidiary UK Steel Enterprise – for the third time. The cash is helping start-ups in the county borough to get off the ground, and council officials are delighted at the number and quality of enterprises helped. Councillor Ken James, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Planning and Development, said: The Business Start-up Fund is indispensable for small businesses, who find it very difficult to access funds these days to get companies off the ground. A great many businesses have started as a result, which would otherwise not have been able to do so. We are very grateful to UK Steel Enterprise for their continued help in this regard. The UK Steel Enterprise cash is 50% match funded by the Council, who also offers extensive advice and support to new entrepreneurs. Ruth Headon of UK Steel Enterprise said: This is the third tranche of money that we have put into this, and we are very pleased with the results, both in terms of quality and quantity of new businesses launched. We wish them all success in their ventures.
